Brisbane defeated South Coast 20 to 10 behind a controlled, high-completion performance. Kratos Kamikamica, Sione Mata'uce and Tikka Boom struck inside the opening 18 minutes before Tim James sealed the result late.
South Coast stayed within reach through tries to Tyrone Clay and Corza Slater, but the Stingrays spent too much of the night defending. Brisbane held 56 percent of the ball and made 304 more metres.
Tim James was everywhere. He ran for 210 metres, delivered 90 passes, made 24 tackles and crossed for the final try.
